Modern-day piracy is the theme of director Paul Greengrass's award-winning movie, 'Captain Philips'. This film, released in 2013, is based on the real life ordeal of Captain Richard Phillips, played by Tom Hanks, who was taken hostage during the hijacking of the container ship named the Maersk Alabama. The four teenaged pirates are led by Abduwali Muse, who is portrayed in this movie by actor Barkhad Abdi. The story takes place in the Indian Ocean, while the crew of the Maersk Alabama are making a trip to Mombasa, Kenya. When the pirates board the ship, Captain Phillips offers himself as a hostage to protect the rest of his crew from further danger. The situation escalates when the United States Navy intervenes to prevent them from reaching shore. The DVD was released in 2014 and includes the downloadable UltraViolet digital version of the movie.
